Layoffs - Canada - Truck maker plans at Chatham plant
Toronto,Ontario, Canada -The Toronto Star -Aug. 4, 2006: -- Navistar International Corp., the world's fourth-largest truck maker, may lay off at least a third of the workers at its Chatham heavy-duty truck plant within four months... The company expects demand for the vehicles to decline, and the plant won't need as many workers, spokesman Roy Wiley said... Canadian law requires that companies give notice of a layoff at least 16 weeks in advance if more than 500 workers may be affected..
