Wellington,New Zealand -THE DOMINION POST, by WARWICK RASMUSSEN -3 July 2006: -- Waikato will have the largest growth in heavy vehicle traffic over the next 14 years and more money for roads is needed to keep up with the demand, a study has found... A study for the Road Transport Forum – a trucking industry lobby group – claims heavy vehicle traffic in the Waikato will grow by more than 100 per cent between now and 2020 to cope with increased freight demand... Forum chief executive Tony Friedlander said: "Heavy vehicle distances travelled in the Waikato are predicted to increase by 565 million kilometres by 2020. That's equivalent to over 20,000 more trucks"...
