Truckers fear - USA - Rising diesel fuel costs to continue climb

The trucking industry upped its fuel spending, estimates more than $6 billion for 2006

Charlotte,NC,USA -Baltimore Business Journal, by Stephanie Wentworth -25 Apr 2006: -- The American Trucking Association said fuel spending will rise to $94.3 billion this year, up more than 7 percent from last year's $87.7 billion. The industry is experiencing the highest fuel prices in history, ATA CEO Bill Graves said... The Alexandria, Va.-based trade group cautions that 2006 fuel spending projections may increase when a new, more environmentally friendly fuel grade -- ultra low sulfur diesel -- hits the market in mid-summer. The new diesel fuel costs more to refine and distribute, officials said... Fuel is the second highest operating expense, behind employee wages, for trucking companies...
