Paccar profit up on demand for big trucks
CHICAGO,Ill.USA -Reuters Apr 25, 2006: -- Paccar Inc., the No. 2 U.S. maker of heavy trucks, said on Tuesday that its quarterly profit rose nearly 25 percent due to strong demand for its biggest trucks ahead of tough new U.S. environmental rules that take effect next year... The maker of Kenworth and Peterbilt trucks said it earned $342 million, or $2.02 a share, in the first quarter, up from $274 million, or $1.56 a share, a year earlier... Sales rose 15.6 percent to $3.85 billion, the company said...
