... The Alberta Motor Transport Association (AMTA), unveiled two high-tech driving simulators Tuesday — a mobile unit that debuted in Rocky View and one based in its Edmonton training facility... The VS600M Truck Simulator looks like part of a truck cabin with a realistic seat, controls and a 360-degree view simulated by high-resolution screens. The technology can cost up to $350,000 — out of the reach of most operators and smaller fleets... The simulator can mimic different truck models, with various engines, transmissions and sizes in all weather conditions and roads... The unit could be used by students, entry-level drivers or professional truckers upgrading their skills... Briggs, who drives a single-axle tractor-trailer in real life, said the simulator is realistic... “You can actually feel the engine running and the seat vibrating, so it was a pretty good scenario” ...
