* DC - Ford recalls 65,000 Fusion cars for roll-away issue

Washington,DC,USA -The Detroit News, by David Shepardson -November 18, 2014: -- Ford Motor Co. said Tuesday it will recall 65,000 new Ford Fusion cars in North America because they could roll away... The Dearborn automaker said the recall covers 56,500 2014-15 Fusion cars in the United States (of A.) and about 8,500 in Canada and Mexico because the key can be removed 30 minutes after the ignition is turned off, even if the transmission is not in park. The vehicles are not currently in compliance with a U.S. regulation involving theft protection and roll-away prevention... Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this condition...
* DC - U.S.A. urges nationwide expansion of air bag recalls
(Photo by Shizuo Kambayashi , AP) Washington,DC,USA -The Detroit News, by David Shepardson -November 18, 2014: -- The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration urged five major automakers including Honda Motor Co., Ford Motor Co. and Chrysler Group LLC to issue nationwide recalls for "millions" of additional vehicles for defective driver-side air bag inflators that can rupture and send metal fragments flying... Until now, the recalls of the air bags made by Takata Corp. had largely been limited to high-humidity areas like Florida... NHTSA's urgent request announced late Tuesday to the automakers — which also included BMW and Mazda — is the latest sign the crisis over defective air bags inflators is mushrooming. Five deaths have been linked to the exploding air bags... None of the five automakers immediately agreed to the recall late Tuesday... NHTSA Administrator David Friedman said the agency had enough data to act. He said NHTSA on Monday asked Takata to declare the air bags defective nationally, but the company refused...
