Santa Fe Springs,CAL,USA -JOC, by William B. Cassidy - Sep 04, 2014: -- Heavy truck orders in the U.S.A. continued their long climb in August, rising 29 percent year-over-year as trucking operators replace aging equipment at a faster pace... Dealer incentive programs helped push net orders for Class 8 tractors to 24,947 units in August, according to preliminary data released by research firm FTR Associates... That made August the 19th consecutive month of year-over-year increases in truck sales. Annualized Class 8 orders now stand at about 316,000 units, FTR said... The increase is in part a reaction to higher freight demand and a healthier U.S.A. economy, following 4.2 percent gross domestic product growth in the second quarter... The substantial increase in truck orders doesn’t necessarily translate to a major increase in capacity for shippers, however. Many truck owners are still replacing pre-recession trucks...
