Canberra,ACT,Australia -ATA Friday Facts -19 July 2013: -- Heavy vehicle related deaths rose during 2012, with 148 deaths from crashes involving articulated vehicles – ten more than in 2011, according to the latest Fatal heavy vehicle crashes Australia bulletin... However, deaths involving articulated vehicles have still fallen by an average of 0.2 per cent each year over the last three years... The bulletin is produced on a quarterly basis by the Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics, and tracks the number of fatal crashes involving heavy trucks or buses on Australian roads... The report shows that NSW continues to record the highest number of deaths from crashes involving a heavy vehicle, with Queensland recording one less fatality... Fatal crashes involving heavy rigid trucks are also on the rise, with 86 crashes in 2012 compared to just 60 the year prior...
