* Belgium - A bonus for the first carriers who opt for LNG

Antwerp,Belgium -Truck and Business, by Astrid Huyghe -30 May 2013: -- The first carriers opt for LNG vehicles will receive a grant from the European Community. This award will be granted in Belgium and in the other 12 Member States participating in LNG Blue Corridors project... The operator can decide which carriers receive the premium and how many units. There is no condition set regarding the minimum number of trucks per carrier. Each LNG plant to be built in the European Union may grant the same number of premiums and the number of premiums must remain proportional to each member state... As a reminder, the first LNG / LCNG station (involving LNG and CNG) public of Belgium will be built at the port of Antwerp and operational in late 2013, early 2014, depending on the date of obtaining building permits...


* Belgium - TNT Express turns on a mobile depot in Brussels 

Brussels,Belgium -Truck and Business, by Astrid Huyghe -29 May 2013: -- TNT Express Benelux starts today commissioned a mobile depot in Brussels. This mobile deposit, parked in the Parc du Cinquantenaire is a large specially designed to serve as a warehouse and sorting between TNT Express Brucargo hub and the center of Brussels trailer. Packages and documents will be loaded before the mobile deposit to be delivered cyclocargos (electric scooters)... They deliver only the municipalities of Schaerbeek, Etterbeek and Sint-Joost-ten-Node. Vans TNT Express will continue to deliver the other cities and larger packages... Each week, vans TNT Express carried 1200 km in Brussels. With this new concept of urban logistics (which includes the use of an electric vehicle), the group hopes to get down to 300 km.... 


* UK - Fuel efficiency rules for Mercedes van and truck additions


Warrington,Cheshire,EN,UK -Transport Engineer, by John Challen -4 June 2913: -- Mark Thompson Transport is now running new tractor units and vans all from Mercedes-Benz, not least in bid to maximise fuel efficiency... The Warrington-based operator has taken delivery of eight New Actros 2545 tractor units with GigaSpace cabs, as well as a pair of Citan vans... Thompson maintains that those margins will make a big difference if replicated across the company's 46-vehicle truck fleet. .. As for the new vans, they comprise one 109 CDI Long and a 109 CDI Extra-long Dualiner, which has a second row of seats. Both have the 90bhp diesel engines and are used for service support and run-arounds for local deliveries...
