* Germany - Volkswagen Ag to get full control over truckmaker MAN SE

Wolfsburg,Germany -InAutoNews (UK), by Mircea Serafim -June 6, 2013: -- Volkswagen Ag, Europe’s largest carmaker plans to get full control over the MAN SE, after the company will use its 75 percent voting stake to pass a motion on Thursday morning at MAN’s annual shareholders’ meeting... The announcement comes after VW announced back in April that the supervisory boards of both companies have approved the so-called domination and profit and loss transfer agreement...  According to the agreement, VW, which already owns 75.03 percent of MAN SE is offering 80.89 euros per share for the remaining 24.97 shares... VW plans to save more money by integrating MAN SE with Swedish truckmaker Scania AB, the other truck maker, where the German automotive company Volkswagen AG owns a 70.94% voting stake... 


* USA - Volvo adds DME to alternative fuel options in North America

Sacramento,CAL,USA -Fleet Owner, by Jim Mele -Jun. 6, 2013: -- Volvo Trucks says it will begin limited production of Volvo VNL trucks powered by the alternative fuel dimethyl ether (DME) in 2015... In a related development, Safeway Inc. will begin field testing two VNLs with Volvo D13 engines modified to use the new fuel option under a $500,000 grant from California’s San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District, the truck maker said today at a press conference in the state’s capitol... DME can be produced from a variety of biomass waste materials or natural gas, offering CO2 reductions of up to 95% compared to diesel. Modifications to the D13 are relatively minor and will not require the use of diesel particulate filters (DPFs), according to Volvo. Handling and storage is similar to propane and does not require cryogenic or high-pressure storage, the company said...


* France - Renault Trucks is continuing its research into urban delivery vehicles

Paris,France -Irish Trucker News -7 June 2013: -- The manufacturer is currently carrying out experiments with Norbert Dentressangle into the viability of an electric truck with an autonomy extender...  This 16 t vehicle, built around a Midlum chassis, makes it possible to carry out assignments covering 60 km in all-electric mode, while having a total operating range of more than 400 km... The vehicle will be tested between June 2013 and January 2014 in the Paris region on behalf of ThyssenKrupp Materials France. This project is part of the ongoing technological partnership between Renault Trucks, PVI and IFP Énergies nouvelles...
