* Germany - Green light for VWFS and Allianz joint operation 

Wolfsburg,Germany -Fleet Europe, by Tim Harrup -13 March 2013: -- The European Commission has given the go-ahead to a joint company to be formed by Allianz Insurance and Volkswagen's in-house financial branch. The Commission justified its decision by pointing out that the number of 'credible competitors meant that there was no danger to competition from this proposed company. Volkswagen Financial Services will hold 51% of the new venture which will offer a full range of automobile-related insurance products, including guarantees on used cars sold by Volkswagen dealers. The operation will begin in Germany, but a roll-out into other European countries has not been excluded. It is intended to double the number of new Volkswagen vehicles currently insured through VWFS...


* UK - Alphabet targeting increase in France 

Hook,Hampshire,UK -Fleet Europe, by Tim Harrup -13 March 2013: -- Alphabet has announced that its total fleet under management increased by 5.7%, just passing the psychological 500,000 mark in the process. This now makes the multi-brand BMW subsidiary the fourth largest such leasing company in Europe. The company's largest markets are the United Kingdom and Germany, but it also saw its operations healthily boosted in the third territory – France – last year. Some 24,000 deliveries in the country saw the total fleet increase to 66,700 vehicles and is targeting 100,000 by 2016...
