* DC - NHTSA weighs expanding GM recall for faulty brake lights

Washington,DC,USA -The Detroit News, by David Shepardson -March 13, 2013: -- The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is investigating whether to add at least 550,000 vehicles to a 2009 General Motors recall for faulty brake lights... Last month, NHTSA told GM it has opened a recall investigation into whether GM should expand its 2009 recall of the Pontiac G6 to address complaints that the brake lights do not operate properly... NHTSA investigated the issue in 2008, but closed it when GM recalled 8,000 2005 and 2006 Pontiac G6 cars... Now, NHTSA is investigating whether GM should recall all 2005-08 G6 vehicles, estimated at 550,000 vehicles... The issue has been linked to rust in the wiring connector that could cause the brake lamps to turn on even when the brake pedal has not been pushed down — or not to work at all...
* Michigan - 6,500 new Fords being recalled for child safety lock fix

Washington,DC,USA -The Detroit News. by David Shepardson -March 12, 2013: -- Ford Motor Co. is recalling about 6,500 new vehicles to replace a rear door lock that may have a faulty child safety mechanism... The Dearborn automaker told safety regulators in the United States and Canada it is recalling some 2013 Ford Focus, C-Max and Escape vehicles because the child lock on the left rear door may have been installed incorrectly...
