* Indiana - Mack debuts Granite MHD 4x2

Indianapolis,IND,USA -Truck News (CAN), by James Menzies -Mar 9, 2013: -- Mack’s iconic Granite has broken into the Class 7 market, in the form of a 4x2 Medium Heavy Duty configuration, showcased for the first time at the NTEA Work Truck Show this week... The truck is aimed at customers looking for a rugged work truck that falls into the Class 7/baby 8 category. The Granite MHD was first introduced in a 6x4 configuration in 2011, but Curtis Dorwart, vocational marketing product manager, said customers frequently asked for a lighter-duty version of the truck...


* Michigan - Meritor Wabco provides updates on four new systems

Troy,MICH,USA -Truck News (CAN), by James Menzies -Mar 9, 2013: -- Meritor Wabco new or improved products aimed at reducing fuel and crash costs for fleet customers... The first of those products is a vastly improved version of Meritor Wabco’s OnGuard collision avoidance system. The new generation OnGuard system, is now in production on Freightliner and Kenworth trucks, with Navistar and Peterbilt coming online in the second quarter, Mark Melletat, director of trailer and field operations with Meritor Wabco announced... The most significant enhancements are a higher-definition radar that provides a 200-metre range, compared to the previous standard of 150 metres. It can also detect vehicles in adjacent lanes to a tractor-trailer, and take that information into consideration when intervening with brake applications or other actions to prevent a crash...
