* India - Tata Motors redefines the premium hatchback segment with the all new: 2013 Tata Indica Vista D90


(Photo: 2013 Tata Indica Vista D90) Prabhadevi,Mumbai,India -CarTrade -February 06, 2013: -- Tata Motors, the country's largest automobile manufacturer, has recently introduced its new premium hatchback Indica Vista Quadrajet D90 in the domestic market. The 'D90' suffix stands for the car's ability to produce 90 PS in output power, which is the company's most powerful hatchback in the country till date. At present, the Tata Indica Vista D90 premium hatch competes against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Swift, Fiat Grande Punto, Volkswagen Polo and Hyundai i20 in the Indian auto market. The company has introduced its new Indica Vista D90 with a price tag of Rs. 5.99 lakhs for VX trim, whereas its ZX variant is offered to domestic audience with a retail value of Rs. 6.83 lakhs (all prices in the ex-showrooms of New Delhi)...


* China’s auto exports cross one million units for the first time

Beijing,China -Automotive World, by David Isaiah -30 Jan 2013: -- Automotive exports from China crossed the one-million-unit mark for the first time last year, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM). A total of 1.06 million vehicles were exported from the country in 2012. Both passenger and commercial vehicle exports from China increased last year.....


Germany / China - KUKA Systems’ chinese subsidiary, wins najor automotive order valued in the mid-double-digit million Euro range 
Augsburg,Germany -Automotive World -30 Jan 2013: -- At the end of 2012, KUKA System GmbH’s Shanghai-based Chinese subsidiary booked another major order for a car body assembly line. A European premium segment carmaker awarded the contract, which requires KUKA to develop and build a car body assembly line and parts such as the vehicle’s curved roof and tailgate. The new system will feature 136 KUKA robots, which will perform tasks such as spot welding and in-line  measurement...

* China - Automotive recalls jump 75%
Beijing, China -Xinhua -29 Jan 2013: -- According to the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ), China’s top quality supervisor, around 3.2 million vehicles were recalled in 2012 for various defects. Compared with the number of vehicles recalled in 2011, last year’s figure was up significantly, by 75%... Vehicle manufacturers and dealers could face tougher financial penalties if they violate newly amended automotive recall rules, which took effect on Jan. 1... Industry insiders said the new rules will help raise the standards of vehicle safety and the after sales service for all cars, including imported ones...


* Japan - Mitsubishi recalls 1,400 EVs for faulty brakes
Washington,DC,USA -The Detroit News, by David Shepardson -February 5, 2013: -- Mitsubishi Motors Corp. is recalling 1,400 electric vehicles for faulty brakes... The Japanese automaker said it is recalling 1,402 2012 i-MiEV electric vehicles built between December 2011 and September 2012 and were sold in the United States... The brake system vacuum pump could become inoperable because of a faulty part built by a German supplier. The investigation began after an owner in Japan made a complaint in June... The automaker told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administrationm (USA), it is unaware of any crashes or injuries...
