* Chengdu-Poland freight train service completes first run 

Sichuan,Chengdu,China -Yangtze Business Service/Xinhua -16 January 2013: -- The- first direct rail freight service between China and Poland arrived at Poland’s Lodz railway station two weeks after departing the Sichuan capital of Chengdu... The train carried mostly electrical appliances, which will be distributed to various destinations in Europe... The service is operated by Hatrans, a Lodz-based logistics company. A Hatrans official said that ocean shipping between Poland and China takes at least 45 days...

* Hubei - Bans cargo trucking on bridges and in tunnels
Wuhan,Hubei,China -Yangtze Business Services -23 January 2013: -- Wuhan Transport Police issued a notice on 17 January, stipulating that all the bridges and tunnels within the city’s three ring road system will be no-go areas for cargo trucks as of 1 February. Details have been posted on the Wuhan government’s website... According to local media, Wuhan transport officials are rolling out a strategy of shifting trucking from day time to night time by the end of this year to reduce congestion and the number of accidents in the city centre. Even at night, trucks will need special licences to enter central areas, officials were quoted as saying... Meanwhile, transport infrastructure continues to be built at a rapid pace. Six bridges and tunnels across the Yangtze are being built in the city, including the No.4 metro line, part of which pass underneath the Yangtze. By 2018, when all six projects are completed, Wuhan will have 15 crossings over or under the river...

* Beijing - Express delivery times fall in 2012

Beijing,China -Xinhua/Yangtze Business Services -30 January 2013: -- A study conducted by China State Post Bureau revealed that the average package delivery speed in China’s express sector fell from 60.5 hours in 2011 to 55 hours last year, reported... The study, which looked at 11 major companies in 50 leading cities, found that speed was the biggest customer concern, followed by price, network coverage and service quality...
