* Michigan - No end in sight for strong auto sales. Monthly sales in Nov. best in nearly 5 years

Detroit,MICH,USA -The Detroit News, by Bryce G. Hoffman -December 4, 2012: -- Automakers reported their strongest monthly sales in nearly five years Monday, suggesting a solid end to 2012 and continued recovery in 2013... Overall industry sales totaled more than 1.14 million units in the United States in November — up 15 percent from the 994,721 reported during the same period a year ago. That translated into a seasonally adjusted annualized selling rate of 15.54 million units, the highest since January 2008...


* Michigan - GM misses November truck sales goal

Detroit,MICH,USA -The Detroit News, by Melissa Burden -December 4, 2012: -- General Motors Co. failed to hit truck sales goals in November as competitors sweetened incentives, leaving the automaker looking at possible production cuts to ease a more than 41/2-month supply of full-size pickups... Executives Monday gave no specific models or plants that would see production changes. December already is a lighter production month with holiday downtime at assembly plants... In November, GM said its competitors rolled out "unexpectedly high" incentives on 2012 pickups. GM opted not to follow suit, causing it to lose share and sales to rivals. The result: Chrysler's Ram pickup sales soared 23 percent in November and Ford's F-series sales jumped 17.9 percent. But GM's total truck sales slid 11 percent and full-size truck sales fell 8 percent...

* Michigan - Volt sales plummet due to inventory issue

Detroit,MICH,USA -The Detroit News, by Karl Henkel -December 3, 2012: -- Sales of Chevrolet's Volt fell in November, following the vehicle's best sales month in October, while less expensive electrified vehicles gained ground on Chevy's range-extended plug-in hybrid... Chevrolet sold 1,519 Volts in November, a 33 percent rise over the same month a year ago. But that was only about half the record 2,961 vehicles sold in October and 2,851 in September... Don Johnson, U.S. vice president of Chevrolet sales and service, attributed the fall in Volt sales from its record-setting tally in October as an inventory issue, felt particularly hard in California... Volt sales through 11 months this year totaled 20,828...
