* Germany / Brazil - Daimler Gets Large Commercial Vehicle Order in Brazil
Stuttgart,Germany / São Bernardo do Campo,Brazil -4-Traders -30 Oct 2012: -- German auto maker Daimler AG said Tuesday its Mercedes-Benz do Brasil unit secured orders worth over 2,100 commercial vehicles from the Brazilian government... The large-scale orders call for delivery of more than 1,700 Atego trucks, and 400 Sprinter of Mercedes-Benz. Among the decisive criteria for winning the tenders are superior quality, a broad usage profile and low total cost ownership... More than 1,700 Atego trucks will be delivered to the Ministry of Defence, and 400 Sprinter vans will be used as ambulance vehicles for the Ministry of Health... Daimler already started delivery of the vehicles and is expected to complete the order by 2013...
* Saudi Arabia - Mobile thirst quencher: Daimler receives large order for 245 Fuso light-duty trucks
Riad,Saudi Arabia -4-Traders -2 Nov 2012: -- The Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation, one of the leading commercial vehicle manufacturers in Asia, headquartered in the Japanese city of Kawasaki, received an order from its long-standing customer "National Plant for Healthy Water", also known as "Hana Water" in Saudi Arabia. The large order of 245 vehicles is consisting of 224 units of the Fuso Canter light-duty truck and 21 Fuso Fighter medium-duty trucks. Herewith Hana Water effectively expands its fleet to a total of 900 commercial vehicles of the Fuso brand... With its growth strategy "Fuso 2015" Daimler is on course to its international medium-term sales target of 200,000 units per year...
* UK - University to aid Longton Avia truck development
Staffordshire,UK -Transport Engineer -1 Nov 2012: -- Truck manufacturer Longton Avia is to collaborate with Staffordshire University on the development of its new Urban Tractor, which is aimed at short-haul and city deliveries... A cross-faculty team at the university will provide input to the truck's design in areas ranging from telemetry to lightweight materials, and electric and hybrid powertrains...
* South Africa - IVECO in joint venture with Larimar Group, to build light, medium and heavy duty commercial vehicles
Pretoria,SA -Truck and Bus -1 Nov 2012: -- The new company (Newco), in which Iveco will hold 60% of the shares, will operate in a manufacturing facility in the suburbs of Pretoria with an annual capacity of 7000 trucks and 1000 buses, and a workforce of around 1000 employees. The Newco will assemble light, medium and heavy duty commercial vehicles as well as front engine and low floor city buses. Production will start in the second half of 2013 with the Eurocargo range...
