* Washington - Next-generation Paccar engines available for 2013
Bellevue,WA,USA-Fleet Owner, by Wendy Leavitt -Nov. 1, 2012: -- Kenworth Truck Company and Peterbilt Motors Company, divisions of Paccar Corp., recently announced the availability of the next generation of Paccar engines, developed to meet the Environmental Protection Agency’s 2013 emissions requirements. The Paccar MX-13, Paccar PX-9 and Paccar PX-7 engines are designed to maximize fuel efficiency and reliability while providing a low total cost of ownership... According to Kenworth, all of the new Paccar engines have a new engine Electronic Control Module (ECM), developed to accommodate the tightening of onboard diagnostic detection windows. Changes to the after-treatment components include a new sensor and redesigned electronics packaging for improved reliability. On the SCR canister, there will be a new ammonia (NH3) sensor used to monitor the DEF dosing performance and improved packaging of the sensor control units...
* Indiana - Cummins kit for repowering Ford 6.4L Power Stroke
Columbus,IND,USA -Fleet Owner -Oct. 28, 2012: -- Diesel Conversion Specialistis offering a Cummins kit to repower Ford trucks with 6.4L Power Stroke engines. The kit includes a 5.9L Cummins engine in 12-valve, 24-valve or common rail configuration. The conversion can be done with the cab on the truck, Diesel Conversion Specialist said. No firewall, core support or floor pan modifications are necessary. The Ford radiator, fan shroud and intercooler are reused... Harness modification services for earlier engines are available upon request. The kit also includes the 6.4L Torqshift automatic transmission which comes with an adapter plate kit that uses the stock Ford starter...
* Indiana - Cummins’ 3Q Income Drops on Lower Engine Demand
Columbus,IND,USA -Transport Topics -31 Oct 2012: -- Cummins Inc. said its third-quarter profit slipped from a year ago on lower engine demand... Heavy-duty truck engine sales dropped to $656 million, from $748 million a year ago... Net income dropped to $352 million, or $1.86 per share, from $452 million, or $2.35, a year ago. Revenue fell 11% to $4.1 billion... Overall engine sales fell 14% to $2.5 billion, with segment earnings before interest and taxes dropping to $239 million from $349 million. Component segment sales were down 8% to $938 million... Demand has dropped sharply over the last three months, according to Cummins, on customer uncertainty in most geographical markets... Cummins said it expects its full-year revenue to be $17 billion...
