* Tennessee - Tornado? Traffic snarl? New app gives update. Mobile tool ready for Android users

Nashville,TENN,USA -The Tennessean -10 Feb 2012: -- For Tennesseans who want to prepare for the worst, there’s now a tool for smartphones... Tennessee is readying to kick off Severe Weather Awareness Week starting Feb. 19, but preempting the event with a new mobile application called “Ready TN” that puts weather and other hazard alerts, traffic conditions, and preparedness suggestions at your fingertips. While the free application is available only for Android phones for now, an iPhone version is nearly ready for release as well... The app is designed to provide real-time weather alerts, up-to-date traffic information, safety checklists and even American Red Cross shelter information. It uses smartphone GPS technology to tailor that information to a user’s geographic location... That information could prove particularly useful this year as forecasters are expecting an “active” severe weather season...
