Canberra,Australia -ATA Friday Facts -10 Feb 2012: -- Almost one in three truck drivers have reduced their usual driving speed over the last two years, a new survey shows... The Australian Government released the survey, the 2011 Survey of Community Attitudes to Road Safety, today... The survey shows that 30 per cent of truck licence holders have reduced their usual driving speed since 2009. 69 per cent have maintained their driving speed, and one per cent say they are driving faster... The survey also shows:
* 16 per cent of truck licence holders have been involved in an accident in the last three years, the same as the percentage for all currently licensed drivers.
* 19 per cent of truck licence holders say they have fallen asleep at the wheel, about the same as the percentage for all drivers who travel long distances frequently (18 per cent). 13 per cent of all currently licensed drivers, including drivers who travel shorter distances or less often, have fallen asleep while driving...
