Eindhoven,Netherlands -Irish Trucker News (Ireland) -8 February 2012: -- DAF has further strengthened its position in the European truck market over the past year... In the heavy class (15 tonnes +) in the European Union* a record market share of 15.5% was achieved, which puts the Dutch truck manufacturer well on its way towards its target of 20% over the medium term. With a market share of 18.9% in Europe, DAF is number 1 in the heavy tractor segment... With a market share of 15.5%, DAF strengthened its position in the European heavy truck market segment in 2011 (2010: 15.2%). DAF is market leader in the Netherlands, Belgium, Great Britain, Poland and Hungary and the largest import brand in Germany and France. Södertälje,Sweden -Automobile Distribution News (UK) -8 February 2012: -- Swedish truck maker Scania has received an order from UK-based Eddie Stobart and A. W. Jenkinson Forest Products to supply 1,000 trucks... The trucks are scheduled to be delivered from next month until December 2013, with about 300 units entering service this year... The company said that the order is mainly for R-series tractor units but will also include a significant number of Scania G-series models... Stobart Group COO, William Stobart, said this agreement reflects the company's on-going satisfaction with Scania and the levels of support provided by its dealer network...* Germany - Daimler Margin Seen Best Since 2007 as Germans Widen Lead: Cars
Stuttgart,Germany -Bloomberg/Business Week, by Chris Reiter -February 08, 2012: -- Daimler AG is set to report its best profit margin since unraveling the merger with Chrysler five years ago. For Chief Executive Officer, Dieter Zetsche, that still means third place among the German luxury-car makers... The Stuttgart-based company, which is also the world’s biggest maker of heavy-duty trucks, will probably say that earnings before interest and taxes in 2011 rose 24 percent to 8.8 billion euros on revenue of 105 billion euros, according to the average estimate of 23 analysts surveyed by Bloomberg. Deliveries rose 7.7 percent last year to a record 1.36 million Mercedes and Smart vehicles boosted by the updated C-Class... Daimler will pay employees a performance bonus of €4,100 (US$5,400) for the year 2011, up from last year’s €3,150 and marking the highest amount ever paid out in its history...
* Germany - Mercedes maker Daimler cautious after record year
Frankfurt,Germany -AFP -9 Feb 2012: -- German auto and truck giant Daimler, maker of Mercedes-Benz cars, said on Thursday it achieved record sales and profits in 2011, but warned that earnings will be flat this year... In the trucks division, unit sales were up 20 percent at 425,800 vehicles and revenues up 20 percent at 28.8 billion euros, with growth seen in all main regions... Looking ahead to the current year, Daimler said that -- assuming global industry-wide growth of 4.0 percent, driven primarily by emerging markets in Asia -- it expected unit sales to "increase again significantly this year and that revenue will also continue to grow" ... In terms of profits, however, underlying earnings were only expected to match last year's level, Daimler said...
