TRUCKMAKERS WORLDWIDE * Sweden - Scania To Cut Production Rate In Europe From Nov As Demand Slows

Stockholm,Sweden -Dow Jones/Fox Business -Oct 10, 2011: -- Swedish truck maker Scania AB said Monday, it will lower the production rate at its European units from November as demand in the company's various markets is slowing down... The company said government financial problems in Europe and the U.S. have now begun to affect economic activity and led to hesitation among its customers... The production rate will be reduced by 10% to 15% compared with the end of the third quarter this year. The adjustment will be handled within the framework of existing flexibility agreements between the company and trade union organizations, Scania said... Scania said demand in Latin America is stable at a high level and that the company has continued high capacity utilization at its production units in Brazil and Argentina...

* Italy - Fiom union calls Fiat strike on Oct 21
Milan,Italy -Reuters, by Silvia Aloisi and Alison Birrane -Oct 8, 2011: -- Italy's radical metalworkers union Fiom has called a one-day strike at Fiat plants nationwide for Oct. 21, saying it feared the carmaker planned to further wind down its operations in the country... The strike was decided after Fiat earlier this week said it was quitting employers' group Confindustria in a row over labour contracts, a move which Fiom says could be a precursor for a gradual disengagement from Italy... Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne says the five Italian plants, which employ around 25,000 people, are loss-making and blames rigid labour laws for low productivity...
* Russia - Kamaz turns profit in first half 2011

Moscow,Russia -Reuters, by John Bowker and Vladimir Soldatikin -Oct 10, 2011: -- Russian truck maker Kamaz said on Monday it moved into the black during the first half of 2011, posting a net profit of 87 million roubles ($2,7 million) compared to a 397 million rouble loss during the same period of 2010...
