TIRES' MAKERS * Germany - Continental to build new tyre manufacturing plant in South California,USA

The new plant will manufacture car and light truck tires

Hanover, Germany -Wheel O Mania -7 Oct 2011: -- German tire maker Continental AG said Thursday it plans to spend $500 million to build a new tire plant in South Carolina further bolstering a significant turnaround in the U.S. tire industry after years of plant closings and layoffs...  The company plans to begin construction of the plant in mid-2012 and complete the facility in 2013...  Continental expects to produce nearly five million passenger and light truck tires in the first phase of the project, when the plant reaches full production levels in 2017. The planned second phase would bring the plant's capacity to eight million units per year by 2021...  The new plant will manufacture car and light truck tires for the U.S. market. The facility is expected to produce 5 million tires annually when it reaches full production in 2017 and expand to 8 million by 2021. In all, more than 1,600 jobs are expected to be created...

The new H:01 line, the latest addition to the Series 01 range, features the FH:01 for the steer and the TH:01 for the drive axle and is designed for use on motorways and arterial roads... In addition to the increased mileage, products within the range have reduced rolling resistance (up to 30 per cent), reduced noise emissions (up to 30 per cent) and improved handling in both wet and dry conditions and high performance standards in terms of stopping distance and grip and traction on wet surfaces are all confirmed...

Is South California a typo? I know they opened a plant in South Carolina. Where did they build the California plant?
