* Europe - CV registrations rise 15.7% in August
Belgium,Brussels -Automotive World by David Isaiah -September 29, 2011: -- Registrations of new commercial vehicles in the EU increased 15.7% year-on-year in August to 116,997 units... All of the EU's major markets posted year-on-year growth in August, according to the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA). France led the CV segment in the EU last month, posting registrations of 26,344 vehicles (+8.5%), followed by Germany with 25,383 units (+21.5%). The UK accounted for 13,412 units last month (+23.9%) and Spain managed 7,204 (+11.9%)... With regard to light commercial vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes (vans), the EU accounted for registrations of 92,953 units, up 14.4% from 81,235 accounted for in August 2010. Among the major markets growth ranged from 5.4% in France, to 12.6% in Spain, 22.8% in the UK and 25.3% in Germany... The truck segment, comprising medium and heavy CVs over 3.5 tonnes, recorded 20,970 registrations last month, 23.5% higher than the 16,974 a year earlier. These figures reflected the upturn in Germany (+15.6%), the UK (+29.1%) and France (+38.9%). The Spanish market was down marginally, by 0.5% year-on-year... A total of 15,214 heavy trucks were registered in the EU last month. This segment comprises heavy CVs of 16 tonnes and over. Last month's figures compared with 11,790 units reported in August 2010, translating into a year-on-year increase of 29%. The upturn was still strong in Germany (+18.6%), the UK (+32.4%) and France (+41.7%). The Spanish market fell marginally (-0.6%)... Medium and heavy buses and coaches (over 3.5 tonnes) reported registrations of 3,074 vehicles in August. This figure was up 4.8% compared with August 2010 levels of 2,932 units. France remained the largest market, and saw its market grow by 23.4%. While this segment expanded in the UK and Spain, Germany posted a 14.2% drop in bus and coach registrations...
* UK - Van and truck registrations: September van and truck market up 8.8%

* Sweden - FE diesel-electric hybrid targets set out by Volvo
Stockholm,Sweden -Transport Engineer (UK), by John Challen -6 Oct 2011: -- Volvo Trucks says it will deliver a total of 100 FE diesel-electric hybrid trucks to 13 European countries by 2013 – and the first has already gone to Spar Austria... The hybrid reduces fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by up to 20%. Depending on usage, it can travel shorter distances silently and with zero emissions at speeds of up to 50km/h on its electric motor alone...
* Russia - Sales of new passenger vehicles and light commercial vehicles rose 26 percent in the month of September
Moscow,Russia -In Auto News -10 Oct 2011: -- The Association of European Businesses in Moscow said this morning: Sales of new passenger vehicles and light commercial vehicles rose 26 percent in the month of September... Among the top ten-bestselling models of passenger cars nine are produced in Russia... Moreover, the first three quarters of 2011 saw sales of new cars and light commercial vehicles in Russia increase by 45% compared with the same period in 2010 or by 593,345 more sold units, according to the AEB Automobile Manufacturers Committee (AEB AMC)...
* Argentina - Vehicle output in September up 9.1% on-year
Buenos Aires City,ARG -Automotive World (UK)/Dow Jones Newswires -October 06, 2011: -- Automotive production in Argentina increased year-on-year in September, reaching 79,977 vehicles. Compared with the industry's output in the corresponding month in 2010, last month's figures were an improvement of 9.1%... Output was down from August 2011, when the industry produced a record number of vehicles for the month of August, at 84,655 units. Compared with this figure, last month's output was down 5.5%, said the Argentine Automobile Manufacturers Association (ADEFA)... In the first three quarters of this year, the country's automotive industry accounted for a total of 627,558 vehicles produced. Compared with the January-September 2010 period, this translated into growth of 23.2%...
* Brazil - Automotive market expands 1.5% year-on-year
Sao Paulo,SP,Brazil -Reuters/Automotive World (UK) -October 05, 2011: -- Brazil's National Automobile Dealership Association, Fenabrave, said sales of new cars, trucks and buses in the country declined 4.8% month-on-month in September to 311,683 vehicles. However, sales were up 1.5% compared with the figures reported in September 2010... Sales in the first three quarters of this year totalled 2,682,445 vehicles, translating into a year-on-year increase of 7.2% compared with the January-September 2010 period... The Brazilian automotive market is led by a mix of European and US-based vehicle manufacturers, such as Fiat, Volkswagen AG, General Motors and Ford...
* South Africa - Sept new vehicle sales up 30 pct
Johannesburg,SA -Reuters -Oct 4, 2011: -- South Africa's new vehicle sales jumped to a four-year high in September of 54,364 units, with the rate of growth up 30 percent year-on-year, the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers (NAAMSA) said on Tuesday... NAAMSA added that the growth rate was coming off a low base from September last year, when the industry was hit by strikes, while rental companies provided strong support, accounting for 21.4 percent of new car sales -- or more than one out of every five cars sold... Economists say car buyers may also be bringing forward decisions to splash out on new models due the prospect of a weaker rand making imports more expensive...
* South Korea - Local OEMs' sales improve 15% in September
Seoul,SK -Dow Jones Newswires/Automotive World -October 5, 2011: -- South Korea's five vehicle manufacturers together posted sales of 671,645 vehicles in September, 15% more than the levels achieved in the corresponding month a year earlier, of 582,758 units... Last month's increase in sales was primarily driven by overseas demand. Sales in September were also up month-on-month, compared with August 2011's 590,424 vehicles...
* Czech Republic - Sales growth slows to 1.3%
Prague,Czech Republic -Automotive World, by David Isaiah -October 07, 2011: -- Combined new vehicle registrations in the Czech Republic totalled 14,973 units in September 2011. This figure was 1.3% higher than the 14,777 units the industry managed in the corresponding month a year earlier... Last month was one of mixed results for the country's automotive market. While passenger car and bus registrations declined year-on-year, light commercial vehicles and trucks posted sales growth... The LCV segment, on the other hand, jumped 36% to 1,167 units. Segment leader Ford held a significant lead, with sales totalling 389 units... A 30.2% year-on-year increase saw truck numbers rise from 586 units in September 2010 to 763 last month. Mercedes-Benz sold just two trucks more than DAF Trucks to take top spot in this segment, selling 163 units... The bus segment fared the worst last month, with registrations down 20.7% to 65 units. Comparatively, 82 buses were registered in the Czech Republic in September last year. SOR and Irisbus were the only brands to reach double-digit sales last month...
* Ireland - September sees sharp fall in new car sales
Dublin,Ireland -AutomotiveWorld -October 07, 2011: -- Figures released by the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI) show new car registrations in the country plummeted 35.3% year-on-year in September. A total of 2,775 cars were registered last month, down from 4,289 in the same month a year earlier... This was the third consecutive month of year-on-year declines reported by the Irish automotive industry. Despite this, sales for the first three quarters of this year remain ahead of the corresponding period in 2010 by 4.8%. With one quarter remaining in the year, new car registrations in the country reached 87,182 units, compared with 83,221 cars registered in the January-September 2010 period...
* Spain - September sees 6% improvement in LCV sales
Madrid,Spain -Automotive World (UK), by David Isaiah -October 11, 2011: -- Spain's light commercial vehicle market accounted for registrations of 7,600 vehicles in September, 6% more than the figures reported in the corresponding month in 2010... However, the Spanish automotive industry association (Anfac) said LCV registrations for the first three quarters of this year declined by 9.1% compared with the January-September 2010 period to 79,185 units... Passenger car-derived LCVs, minivans and pick-ups together accounted for 4,810 LCVs registered last month, a year-on-year increase of 5.9%. Of this, passenger car-derived LCVs accounted for 167 units (-17.7%); minivans managed 4,199 (+4.8%) and 444 pick-ups were registered (+33.7)... In the heavier segment, LCVs less than 2.8 tonnes, vans between 2.8 and 3.5 tonnes, and trucks/chassis cab trucks together posted registrations of 2,790 vehicles last month, up 6.2% from a year earlier. Out of this, only LCVs less than 2.8 tonnes declined, dropping by 2.2% to 708 units. The bulk of registrations in this segment came from vans between 2.8 and 3.5 tonnes, at 1,712 units, which was an increase of 4.3%. Trucks/chassis cab trucks reported registrations of 370 units last month, a significant increase of 40.7%...
