Ho Chi Minh City,Viet Nam -TUOI TRE NEWS -22 Nov 2014: -- Low prices combined with a failure by Vietnam’s domestic automobile industry to meet demand have enabled Chinese-made vehicles, mostly trucks, to flood the Southeast Asian country’s market... Vietnam’s imports of automobiles posted strong growth in both volume and value in the January-October period, according to newly released data from the Vietnam Customs... The Southeast Asian country imported 51,600 complete automobiles from all markets in the year to October, a steep increase of 79 percent year on year, whereas the import value rose 96 percent from the same period last year to US$1.14 billion...

* China - March light-vehicle sales up 14% on strong SUV and MPV demand

Beijing,China -Automotive News -11 April 2013: -- China's sales of light vehicles rose 17 percent year-on-year to 1.6 million units in March as demand surged for SUVs and MPVs, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM)... Last month, SUV sales jumped 33 percent year-on-year to 235,000 units while MPV sales surged 160 percent to 117,000 units. Sedan sales rose 11 percent from a year earlier to 1.0 million units. By contrast, microvan sales dropped 20 percent to 195,000 units... For the first three months of this year, China's light vehicle sales grew 17 percent from the same period last year to 5.4 million units, according to CAAM... So far, sales have outstripped early forecasts that China sales would rise roughly 8 to 10 percent this year. However, average dealership inventory levels climbed to 60 days worth of sales as of the end of February, up from 33 days in January, according to the dealer association...

Toronto,ONT,CAN -Work Truck Magazine -January 14, 2012: -- Azure Dynamics has delivered its 1,000th Balance hybrid electric, to Purolator Courier, its largest customer, which now has 555 of the parallel drive vehicles...  The 1,000th Balance truck represents Purolator’s 200th received in 2011, as part of a 600-unit order to be delivered over a three-year period. Purolator currently operates 555 of the trucks, out of a total fleet of some 3,500 vehicles. An additional 200 units is slated for delivery this year, and another 200 in 2013...  The Balance hybrids for Purolator are integrated by Azure on a Ford E-450 chassis with a Ford 5.4-liter gasoline engine. The hybrid electric drive features engine-off at idle and below 20 miles per hour, and electronically supports key ancillary functions like power steering and braking...   Azure says it’s the world’s leading provider of hybrid electric powertrain solutions in the Class 2c-5 medium-duty commercial hybrid truck sector, with a market share of approximately 50%...

* Europe - EU truck sales rise 4.5 in September

Brussels,Belgium -Reuters , by Helen Massy-Beresford -Oct 27, 2011: -- Truck sales in the European Union rose 4.5 percent in September, industry association ACEA said on Thursday, showing that the signs of cooling demand reported by truck makers which have led them to plan production cuts have not yet filtered through to their order books...  Truck sales are seen as an economic bellwether, reflecting trends in international trade -- road transport accounts for 72.6 percent of all inland freight transported in the European Union, according to statistics published on ACEA's website...  ACEA said overall commercial vehicle sales rose 11.1 percent in the first nine months of the year, with Spain the only country performing less well during the period...  Heavy truck sales rose 16.6 percent year-on-year in September...  Sales of light commercial vehicles or vans, often used by the small businesses most vulnerable to economic woes, posted a smaller rise of 3.3 percent in September...  Sales of trucks over 3.5 tonnes rose 13.0 percent while bus and coach sales fell 10.2 percent last month...


* USA - Used truck volumes recover in September: ACT report

Volumes were mixed on a channel-by-channel basis, falling in the retail market, but gaining ground in the auction and wholesale markets, according to the report...


* Japan - Auto Market: Production down, Exports up in Sept.

Tokyo,Japan -In Auto News -28 Oct 2011:  --  Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association released Friday the Statistical Data for the first nine years of 2011. Accordingly, Japan’s export of cars, trucks and buses increased in Spetember for the 2nd consecutive month, to 8.8 percent more than a year ago for a total of 477,911 vehicles (up form 439,230 vehicles last year)...  Automobile production in September 2011 registered a fall of 4.5% or 41,410 unites, from 925,003 units produced in 2010 to 883,593 unites in 2011. The fall was generated by the negative impact of passenger cars (-5.2%, down 41,860 units compared to 2010) and trucks (-1,5%, down 1,721 units ) production, while buses production was up 24.2% (22,171 units). During the first half of Japan’s fiscal year (April 2011 - September 2011) automobile production registered only 3,902,348 units, down with 18.5% or 884,593 units compared with the 4,786,941 units total recorded for 2010...

TRUCKS SALES WORLDWIDE * Europe - New car sales inch up 0.7% in September

Brussels,Belgium -Automotive World (UK), by David Isaiah -October 18, 2011: -- Following a 7.7% year-on-year increase in August 2011, new passenger car registrations in the EU inched up 0.7% in September. A total of 1,232,707 cars were registered last month, up from 1,223,994 cars accounted for in September 2010...  Registrations last month were significantly higher than the 753,709 cars reported in August this year. According to the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA), car registrations in the January-September period fell by 1.1%, from 10,233,104 units in 2010 to 10,122,983 this year...  In September, Germany was the only major market to post an increase in registrations. Germany accounted for 280,689 cars, an increase of 8.1% year-on-year. The UK posted a 0.8% drop last month, Spain's numbers were down 1.3%, registrations in France declined 1.4% and Italy posted a 5.7% drop in numbers...


* North America - Class 8 orders up again in September

New York,NY,USA -Automotive World -October 20, 2011: -- Preliminary data indicate that Class 8 truck orders across all leading North American OEMs have risen again, according to FTR Associates. In what is the second consecutive month of rising orders, September figures have come in at 23,465 units, up 12% from August and up 56% from the same month a year ago. However, the annualized order rate for the six-months through September remains down considerably from the same period in 2010...  Eric Starks, FTR president, described the results as “at the high end of expectations.” He goes on to note that the level of order activity would indicate that ”truckers are not very concerned about a slowing economy. This is a good sign that things are not falling apart.”


* Germany - VW LCV sales up 25.5%

Stuttgart,Germany -Automotive World (UK) -October 14, 2011: -- Global light commercial vehicle sales at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles jumped 25.5% year-on-year in the January-September period to 390,000 units...   The brand’s top seller was the Caddy with global deliveries of 118,400 units, up 25.6%. It was followed by the T5, with its variants, the Transporter, Caravelle, Multivan, and California, up by 9.6% at 115,700 units...  Crafter sales inched up from 26,400 units to 26,700 units in the year-to-date. The Amarok trebled its sales for the first nine months to 47,400 vehicles...  


* China - GM sales top 2 million, again

Beijing,China -Automotive World (UK) -October 18, 2011: -- General Motors has announced that its sales in China have once again topped the 2 million mark in less than a year. The OEM first reached the 2 million mark for a calendar year on 4 November 2010. It reached this landmark a second time on 17 October 2011. Buick sales in China this year have risen 24%, with Chevrolet sales up 18% and Cadillac up 73%... In addition, GM’s SAIC-GM-Wuling joint venture sold its 1 millionth vehicle in China this year on 14 October...


* Spain - CV market contracts 0.9% in September

Madrid,Spain -Automotive World, by David Isaiah -October 18, 2011: -- Commercial vehicle registrations in Spain fell by 0.9% year-on-year to 1,584 units in September. Despite last month's drop, registrations in the first three quarters of 2011 remained ahead by 24.5%, compared with the January-September 2010 period, accounting for 13,715 units...  According to data compiled by the Spanish automotive industry association (Anfac), truck registrations grew by 13.3% in September to 1,328 units. Registrations of buses, coaches and minibuses combined fell by 39.9% to 256 units...  Out of total truck registrations, light trucks between 3.5 and 6.0 tonnes accounted for 72 units, up 60% from 45 a year earlier...  Medium trucks between 6.0 and 16 tonnes saw numbers decline by 16.4% to 163 units. Iveco dominated this segment, posting sales of 72 trucks, down 10%...  The bulk of truck registrations came from the heavy truck segment, comprising trucks over 16 tonnes. A total of 1,093 such trucks were registered in Spain in September, translating into an increase of 17.3%...


* Bulgaria - Light vehicle sales up 21.2% in September


Sophia,Bulgaria - The Sofia Echo/Automotive World -October 13, 2011: -- Bulgaria's combined automotive market rose to 16,950 vehicles in the first three quarters of this year. Compared with the January-September 2010 period, this translated into an increase of 23.2%... According to figures released by the Association of Car Manufacturers and Authorised Representatives, this figure included a total of 15,983 passenger cars and light commercial vehicles. Light vehicle sales during this period increased by 21.2%, reports, citing the association... The country's commercial vehicle market also improved year-on-year in the first nine months of this year. A total of 967 trucks and buses were sold in the country during this period, up 70.2% from a year earlier...

Truck Sales * USA - Continue to Grow

New York,NY,USA -Transport Topics -13 Oct 2011: -- Despite the drop in consumer confidence and less-than-glowing economic reports in September, sales of medium-duty trucks continued to grow at a steady pace...  Truck makers reported selling 240,356 new medium-duty (Classes 3-7) trucks through September, 24% more than over the same time last year, according to figures released Thursday from WardsAuto.com...  Individually, Hino Trucks and Peterbilt Motors both recorded the biggest gains, selling 46% more trucks each through the first nine months this year than in the same period in 2010. Freightliner also had a healthy sales gain of 38% over this time compared with 2010...   Navistar Inc.’s International brand reported selling 24,994 Classes 6 and 7 trucks through September, giving it a 40% share of that market segment. Freightliner was next with 34% of sales in those classes, according to WardsAuto.com...  Chrysler’s Ram Trucks and Ford Motor Co. continue to outpace all manufacturers...  Ram is the leader with 31% of all sales in Classes 3-7, thanks to its dominance in Class 3 where it captured 50% of the sales through September. Ford Motor Co. is second with 30% of sales in Classes 3-7. Ford’s share of Class 3 sales, where it used to lead, is now at 31%, but it sells units in every medium-duty class while Ram reports sales only in Classes 3 and 5...


* USA - Truck sales rolling


New York,NY,USA -Fleet Owner -Oct 14, 2011: -- Medium- and heavy-duty truck sales jumped 51.7% in September year-over-year, according to data compiled by WardsAuto.com. As good as sales were, it does represent a slight decline from August’s 54.2% increase...  Class 8 sales increased 69.5% and all brands saw double-digit increases with the exception of Mack. Western Star posted a 305.3% gain and Volvo 126.9%...  Daimler sold 5,671 units in September to lead the way...  In medium duty, sales increased 32.3%, led by Daimler’s 271% increase and International’s 104.3% gain in Class 6 sales. Class 7 dropped 1.6% on an 86.3% decline at UD Trucks and 44.5% drop at Ford. Kenworth posted a 99.3% increase in Class 7...  Class 6 saw an 81.1% increase overall. Class 5 was also up, 39.3%, with Chrysler gaining 123.7%. In Class 4, Isuzu posted a 186.8% increase as sales overall climbed 10.3% in the class...


* USA -  Mack Defense awarded contract to supply Granite models

Washington,DC,USA -Penton Media/Fleet Owner -Oct 13, 2011: -- The U.S. Army Contracting Command has awarded Mack Defense, a division of Mack Trucks, a contract to supply the Mack Granite to West-Mark... West-Mark manufactures tank transportation equipment for security forces serving in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other countries. The 3-year contract has a total value of $37.8 million with a two-year option. As part of the contract, Mack will supply spare parts and in-country service points... Deliveries will start in early 2012...

TRUCKS SALES * USA - September Sales at GM Soar 20%, at Chrysler Surge 27%

New York,NY,USA -123 Jump, by Mukesh Buch -October 05 2011:  --  U.S. auto sales increased 9.9% in September from a year ago as consumer took advantage of cheap financing from GM, Chrysler and Toyota. Sales at Chrysler soared 27% followed by GM with a rise of 20% and Ford with 9%. Toyota sales declined 17.5%...  The sales of automobiles increased in September helped with a slightly better consumer confidence, increased parts supplies from Japan and Labor Day weekend...  The total vehicles sales in the month jumped 9.9% from a year ago and three domestic makers increased their market share to 48% from 45% in the previous month. GM, Ford and Chrysler, the three domestic makers led the sales in the month as Toyota and Honda struggled with parts delivery after March 11 earth quake in Japan...  For the year so far, total light vehicle sales increased 10.4% to 9.52 million from 8.62 million, passenger car sales increased 8.7% to 4.73 million from 4.35 million and light truck sales increased 12.2% to 4.78 million from 4.26 million...  The monthly data are released by the industry research organization Autodata Corp based in Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey...

* Europe - CV registrations rise 15.7% in August

Belgium,Brussels -Automotive World by David Isaiah -September 29, 2011: -- Registrations of new commercial vehicles in the EU increased 15.7% year-on-year in August to 116,997 units...  All of the EU's major markets posted year-on-year growth in August, according to the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA). France led the CV segment in the EU last month, posting registrations of 26,344 vehicles (+8.5%), followed by Germany with 25,383 units (+21.5%). The UK accounted for 13,412 units last month (+23.9%) and Spain managed 7,204 (+11.9%)...  With regard to light commercial vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes (vans), the EU accounted for registrations of 92,953 units, up 14.4% from 81,235 accounted for in August 2010. Among the major markets growth ranged from 5.4% in France, to 12.6% in Spain, 22.8% in the UK and 25.3% in Germany...  The truck segment, comprising medium and heavy CVs over 3.5 tonnes, recorded 20,970 registrations last month, 23.5% higher than the 16,974 a year earlier. These figures reflected the upturn in Germany (+15.6%), the UK (+29.1%) and France (+38.9%). The Spanish market was down marginally, by 0.5% year-on-year...  A total of 15,214 heavy trucks were registered in the EU last month. This segment comprises heavy CVs of 16 tonnes and over. Last month's figures compared with 11,790 units reported in August 2010, translating into a year-on-year increase of 29%. The upturn was still strong in Germany (+18.6%), the UK (+32.4%) and France (+41.7%). The Spanish market fell marginally (-0.6%)...  Medium and heavy buses and coaches (over 3.5 tonnes) reported registrations of 3,074 vehicles in August. This figure was up 4.8% compared with August 2010 levels of 2,932 units. France remained the largest market, and saw its market grow by 23.4%. While this segment expanded in the UK and Spain, Germany posted a 14.2% drop in bus and coach registrations... 


* UK - Van and truck registrations: September van and truck market up 8.8%

* Sweden  - FE diesel-electric hybrid targets set out by Volvo

Stockholm,Sweden -Transport Engineer (UK), by John Challen -6 Oct 2011: -- Volvo Trucks says it will deliver a total of 100 FE diesel-electric hybrid trucks to 13 European countries by 2013 – and the first has already gone to Spar Austria... The hybrid reduces fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by up to 20%. Depending on usage, it can travel shorter distances silently and with zero emissions at speeds of up to 50km/h on its electric motor alone...


* Russia - Sales of new passenger vehicles and light commercial vehicles rose 26 percent in the month of September

Moscow,Russia -In Auto News -10 Oct 2011: -- The Association of European Businesses in Moscow said this morning: Sales of new passenger vehicles and light commercial vehicles rose 26 percent in the month of September... Among the top ten-bestselling models of passenger cars nine are produced in Russia... Moreover, the first three quarters of 2011 saw sales of new cars and light commercial vehicles in Russia increase by 45% compared with the same period in 2010 or by 593,345 more sold units, according to the AEB Automobile Manufacturers Committee (AEB AMC)...


* Argentina - Vehicle output in September up 9.1% on-year

Buenos Aires City,ARG -Automotive World (UK)/Dow Jones Newswires -October 06, 2011: -- Automotive production in Argentina increased year-on-year in September, reaching 79,977 vehicles. Compared with the industry's output in the corresponding month in 2010, last month's figures were an improvement of 9.1%... Output was down from August 2011, when the industry produced a record number of vehicles for the month of August, at 84,655 units. Compared with this figure, last month's output was down 5.5%, said the Argentine Automobile Manufacturers Association (ADEFA)... In the first three quarters of this year, the country's automotive industry accounted for a total of 627,558 vehicles produced. Compared with the January-September 2010 period, this translated into growth of 23.2%...


* Brazil - Automotive market expands 1.5% year-on-year

Sao Paulo,SP,Brazil -Reuters/Automotive World (UK) -October 05, 2011:  --  Brazil's National Automobile Dealership Association, Fenabrave, said sales of new cars, trucks and buses in the country declined 4.8% month-on-month in September to 311,683 vehicles. However, sales were up 1.5% compared with the figures reported in September 2010...  Sales in the first three quarters of this year totalled 2,682,445 vehicles, translating into a year-on-year increase of 7.2% compared with the January-September 2010 period...  The Brazilian automotive market is led by a mix of European and US-based vehicle manufacturers, such as Fiat, Volkswagen AG, General Motors and Ford...


* South Africa - Sept new vehicle sales up 30 pct

Johannesburg,SA -Reuters -Oct 4, 2011: -- South Africa's new vehicle sales jumped to a four-year high in September of 54,364 units, with the rate of growth up 30 percent year-on-year, the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers (NAAMSA) said on Tuesday... NAAMSA added that the growth rate was coming off a low base from September last year, when the industry was hit by strikes, while rental companies provided strong support, accounting for 21.4 percent of new car sales -- or more than one out of every five cars sold... Economists say car buyers may also be bringing forward decisions to splash out on new models due the prospect of a weaker rand making imports more expensive...


* South Korea - Local OEMs' sales improve 15% in September

Seoul,SK -Dow Jones Newswires/Automotive World -October 5, 2011: -- South Korea's five vehicle manufacturers together posted sales of 671,645 vehicles in September, 15% more than the levels achieved in the corresponding month a year earlier, of 582,758 units... Last month's increase in sales was primarily driven by overseas demand. Sales in September were also up month-on-month, compared with August 2011's 590,424 vehicles...


* Czech Republic - Sales growth slows to 1.3%

Prague,Czech Republic -Automotive World, by David Isaiah -October 07, 2011: -- Combined new vehicle registrations in the Czech Republic totalled 14,973 units in September 2011. This figure was 1.3% higher than the 14,777 units the industry managed in the corresponding month a year earlier...  Last month was one of mixed results for the country's automotive market. While passenger car and bus registrations declined year-on-year, light commercial vehicles and trucks posted sales growth... The LCV segment, on the other hand, jumped 36% to 1,167 units. Segment leader Ford held a significant lead, with sales totalling 389 units...  A 30.2% year-on-year increase saw truck numbers rise from 586 units in September 2010 to 763 last month. Mercedes-Benz sold just two trucks more than DAF Trucks to take top spot in this segment, selling 163 units...  The bus segment fared the worst last month, with registrations down 20.7% to 65 units. Comparatively, 82 buses were registered in the Czech Republic in September last year. SOR and Irisbus were the only brands to reach double-digit sales last month... 


* Ireland - September sees sharp fall in new car sales


Dublin,Ireland -AutomotiveWorld -October 07, 2011: -- Figures released by the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI) show new car registrations in the country plummeted 35.3% year-on-year in September. A total of 2,775 cars were registered last month, down from 4,289 in the same month a year earlier...  This was the third consecutive month of year-on-year declines reported by the Irish automotive industry. Despite this, sales for the first three quarters of this year remain ahead of the corresponding period in 2010 by 4.8%. With one quarter remaining in the year, new car registrations in the country reached 87,182 units, compared with 83,221 cars registered in the January-September 2010 period...


* Spain - September sees 6% improvement in LCV sales


Madrid,Spain -Automotive World (UK), by David Isaiah -October 11, 2011: -- Spain's light commercial vehicle market accounted for registrations of 7,600 vehicles in September, 6% more than the figures reported in the corresponding month in 2010... However, the Spanish automotive industry association (Anfac) said LCV registrations for the first three quarters of this year declined by 9.1% compared with the January-September 2010 period to 79,185 units... Passenger car-derived LCVs, minivans and pick-ups together accounted for 4,810 LCVs registered last month, a year-on-year increase of 5.9%. Of this, passenger car-derived LCVs accounted for 167 units (-17.7%); minivans managed 4,199 (+4.8%) and 444 pick-ups were registered (+33.7)... In the heavier segment, LCVs less than 2.8 tonnes, vans between 2.8 and 3.5 tonnes, and trucks/chassis cab trucks together posted registrations of 2,790 vehicles last month, up 6.2% from a year earlier. Out of this, only LCVs less than 2.8 tonnes declined, dropping by 2.2% to 708 units. The bulk of registrations in this segment came from vans between 2.8 and 3.5 tonnes, at 1,712 units, which was an increase of 4.3%. Trucks/chassis cab trucks reported registrations of 370 units last month, a significant increase of 40.7%...

TRUCKS SALES * USA - Report: Commercial vehicle orders hold up in August despite economic reports

Columbus,IND,USA -Truck News (CAN) -Sep 20, 2011:  --   Commercial vehicle orders held up reasonably well in August despite a surge of bad news about the economy that led to a collapse in consumer confidence, according to ACT Reseach Co...   ACT's updated status of the North America commercial vehicle market was included in its State of the Industry report, which covers Class 5 through 8 vehicles...  "The events that caused confidence to wane are still in play and are likely to haunt the economy in coming quarters," said Kenny Vieth, president and senior analyst at ACT. "However, there was not any perceptible impact on the front-end of the commercial vehicle demand continuum. Medium-duty and heavy-duty vehicle orders rose above expectations during the month and cancellations remained modest" ...

TRUCK SALES * Spain: April CV sales improve 31.5%

Madrid,Spain -AutomotiveWorld, by David Isaiah -May 19, 2011: -- The year-on-year rate of increase in registrations in Spain's commercial vehicles market slowed to 31.5% in April 2011, following a 48.8% rise reported in March this year. A total of 1,471 vehicles were registered in this segment last month, the Spanish automotive industry association (Anfac) said... With last month's increase, the total number of CVs registered in Spain in the first four months of this year rose to 6,588 units, 44.5% higher than what the industry had managed in the corresponding four-month period in 2010... The truck segment last month accounted for registrations of 1,185 units, up 28.9% from a year ago. This improvement was due to the heavy truck segment, comprising vehicles over 16 tonnes. Here registrations rose from 635 units in April 2010 to 923 last month, an increase of 45.4%... TRUCK SALES * UK - LCV and HGV sales rise in March

London,UK -Transport Engineer -11 April 2011: -- Van sales increased by 27% in March and by 31% overall for the first quarter of the year, compared with last year's figures... Reports also suggest that heavy truck sales were up 11.2% in March, and up 29.2% year on-year... Further investigation reveals that purchases were focused on large 3.5-tonne vans as well as three-axle articulated tractors. Medium-weight rigid trucks, however, remained at similar levels of sales to last year...

TRUCK SALES * Europe - ACEA: Recovery continues in December

New commercial vehicle sales rose 12.5 percent in December in the European Union...

Paris,France -Reuters, by Helen Massy-Beresford -Jan 26, 2011: ...   ACEA said on Wednesday, as the recovery continued and the sector finished 2010 on a positive note...  Highly cyclical demand for heavy trucks has powered ahead in the last few months, as the industry recovers after the worst downturn in decades...  Strong growth in emerging markets like Asia and South America has helped truckmakers that were hit hard by the crisis...  Demand has also picked up in Europe, although there are concerns that eurozone economic woes could destabilise the recovery...  For the year 2010 as a whole, commercial vehicle sales rose 8 percent, ACEA said...  In December, sales of new vans, or light commercial vehicles, rose 8.4 percent...  Sales of heavy trucks over 16 tonnes rose 70.2 percent in December, from a very low base the same month in 2009. Over the year, sales rose 8.4 percent from 2009, the association said...  Sales of trucks over 3.5 tonnes rose 47.8 percent in December and 6.4 percent in 2010...  Bus and coach sales, the only segment showing a decline, were down 1.4 percent in December in the region...


* USA - Harbor City truck maker announces deal to export green drive systems to China

Los Angeles,CAL,USA -The Los Angeles Times, by Stephen Ceasar -January 25, 2011: -- A Los Angeles County heavy-duty truck, tractor and electrical systems maker announced a deal Tuesday to export $15.9 million worth of electric vehicle drive systems to China to power buses...  Balqon Corp., based in Harbor City near Long Beach, said it expected to hire 150 workers over the next 18 months to build 300 electric vehicle drive systems to power buses that can carry 15 to 40 passengers each...  The drive systems are being purchased by Winston Global Energy, a Shenzhen, China, company owned by Chinese entrepreneur Winston Chung, who is also a major shareholder in Balqon, founded in 2005...

TRUCKS SALES * Europe - Affordable Windows choose DAF

Blackpool,UK -HGV UK -December 14, 2010: -- The leading trade manufacturer of UPVC windows in the North West has replaced the bulk of its delivery fleet with 16 DAF LF45s with factory-fitted boxvan bodies... Affordable Window Group, which also trades as 21st Century PVC, chose the DAFs following good experience with two it was already running... Operations Director, John McVey, felt that having both chassis and body produced in one place would lead to more consistency of finish as well as simplifying the ordering process and any after-sales support issues. This ‘one stop shop’ process also reduced leadtimes by around three weeks... TRUCK SALES * Europe - Sales of light trucks continue to climb in Europe

Brussels,Belgium -Van & Business, by Stijn Phlix -26 Nov 2010: -- In October 2010, is 125,914 light commercial vehicles (under 3.5 tonnes) which nine were registered in Europe, according to ACEA, the European federation of car manufacturers. This is 7.4% more than in October 2009... Whether in France (+16%), Germany (+16.2%) and Great Britain (+22.3%), large markets are doing well. Italy and Spain by record against a decline of 6.1% for the first and 14.9% for the second... If we consider the first 10 months of the year, sales of light trucks have surpassed 1.2 million units, representing an increase of 8.5% over the same period last year...

STATISTICS * USA - Upswing in Commercial Vehicle, Trailer Registrations

Polk found new commercial vehicle registrations up 9.6%

Detroit,MICH,USA -AutoRemarketing -December 2, 2010: -- Polk reports used commercial vehicle registrations hit record. Class 3-8 used vehicle registrations hit 524,500 units for 1st 9 months of 2010. That's up 18.7% over same period last year... All totaled, commercial vehicle registrations hit 794,200 units, up 15.5%... Polk says record numbers create aftermarket opportunities, especially Class 8... Polk analysts also report new trailer registrations up 42.2% to 76,125 units. These numbers include trailers 24 feet or longer. Market strongly influenced by dry and refrigerated van trailers... * DC - Freight Index Climbed 0.2 Percent in October

Washington,DC,USA -The Journal of Commerce Online, by Joseph Bonney -Dec 8, 2010: -- TSI rose for 13th time in 17 months but remained down for the year... The Transportation Department’s Freight Transportation Services Index climbed 0.2 percent in October from its September level, rising for the 13th time in 17 months... The Freight TSI measures the month-to-month changes in freight shipments in ton-miles of freight moved in for-hire trucking, rail, inland waterways, pipelines and air freight. Trucking makes up the majority of the seasonally adjusted index... The October reading pushed the index 5.7 percent over its June 2009 low, which was 15.3 percent below the pre-recession level of August 2008. Through the first 10 months of 2010, however, the index declined 0.7 percent. The October Freight TSI is down 12.4 percent from its historic peak of 112.9 reached in May 2006...
