* USA / Tennessee - Bridgestone to invest more than $1.2 billion in manufacturing operations

Nashville,TENN,USA -Truck News (CAN) -Sep 22, 2011:  --  Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations (BATO) is investing $36.6 million in its Warren County, Tenn., plant to increase production capacity by an additional 900 truck and bus tires per day. The expansion is expected to be complete in the first quarter of 2013 and is projected to create 50 new jobs...


* USA / Indiana - Allison makes 1 millionth 3000 Series truck transmission

Indianapolis,IND,USA -Torque News, by Hawke Fracassa -28  Sept 2011: -- Allison Transmission Inc., an Indianapolis-based maker of automatic transmissions and hybrid propulsion systems, has manufactured its 1 millionth 3000 Series transmission. It has been installed in a Freightliner M2 chassis in Lyon Station, Pa....  The truck is being leased from Penske Truck Leasing Co. of Reading, Pa., to long-time lease customer East Penn Manufacturing in Pennsylvania... 


* UK - Kwik-Fit prepares for winter tyre rush


London,EN,UK -Fleet Europe, by Tim Harrup -22 Sept 2011: -- Following unprecedented demand for winter tyres in the UK last year, tyre and other car accessories specialist Kwik-Fit is requesting customers to order their winter tyres for this year as quickly as possible. The company has ordered 200,000 such tyres this year, which is four times as many as last year. Customers can order via special hotline, and as part of the deal the tyres are fitted by the end of October, and summer tyres stored until the time comes for refitting them in the spring. The Kwik-Fit tyre order is worth around £20 million at retail prices...
