* Sweden - Volvo Truck deliveries in October 2010

Gothenburg,Sweden -The Swedish Wire -17 Nov 2010: --  Volvo Trucks' deliveries in October were 68% higher than in the corresponding month last year... The deliveries to Europe amounted to 3,442 trucks, 90% up compared to the year-earlier period. Year-to-date 22,287 trucks were delivered in Europe, which is up 39% from last year...  In South America the deliveries in October are up 38%, supported by growing domestic markets. The demand continues to be strong in Brazil and increased deliveries to Peru, Argentina and Chile were also seen during October. So far this year, the deliveries in South America have increased by 91% to 14,917 trucks... They go on to say that in North America the deliveries totalled 9,488 trucks year-to-date, with 1,651 trucks delivered during October---an increase of 93% compared to the same month in 2009. * UK - Volvo predicts 100 orders this year for FMX

London,UK -Road Transport, by Dominic Perry -17 November 2010: -- Volvo Trucks believes it will secure orders for 100 of its newly-launched FMX tippers in the UK by the end of 2010, according to UK MD Göran Nyberg...  The FMX, marketed as a heavy-duty tipper for construction, was launched in March in the face of a deep downturn in the construction sector...  The UK's first FMXs will be delivered before the end of this year, he predicts, and adds that the vehicle has prompted a number of customers in the sector to buy Volvo for the first time. * UK - 70 Renault Premium for PCL Transport

Hoddesdon,Herts,UK -Truck Europe, by Michel Buckinx -16 Nov 2010: -- British company PCL Transport has taken delivery of 70 Renault Premium Route vehicles in order to completely renew its fleet...  PCL Transport is specialised in refrigerated transport and has chosen Renault, according to the manufacturer, ‘for the general perceived quality of the Premium Route, its comfort and dynamic handling along with its low fuel consumption’...  The Premium Route vehicles acquired by PCL are 6x2 et 4x2 tractor units delivering power of 460 bhp and fitted with the robotised Optidriver gearbox...


* USA - Refuse fleet add 32 CNG trucks

Fort Myers,FL,USA -Fleet Owner -Nov 17, 2010: -- Veolia Enviromental America (VESNA), announced the acquisition of 32 new compressed natural gas- (CNG) powered refuse collection trucks. The company has also opened a new CNG fueling station at its Fort Myers, FL, headquarters... With a refuse body built by McNeilus, the new trucks began serving residential and commercial customers across Lee County, Florida in October. The new Veolia-owned CNG fueling system utilizes time-fill fueling technology that allows drivers to fuel their trucks during overnight hours, minimizing administrative and operational downtime, according to the company. It was constructed by Vocational Energy, a general engineering contractor that specializes in CNG infrastructure construction for the waste industry... In addition to a reduction in pollution, the company says the new trucks are approximately 15% quieter than trucks powered with diesel engines. * Saudi Arabia - Orders 350 Volvo trucks

Riyadh,Saudi Arabia -The Transport Engineer, by Brian Tinham -4 Nov 2010: -- Zahid Tractor, Volvo Trucks distributor in Saudi Arabia, and Al Ayuni Investment & Contracting Co. have signed a deal for 350 trucks from the Swedish manufacturer...   Most will be the new Volvo FMX, which are due to be deployed kingdom-wide for projects ranging from road construction to railways. They are already rolling out of the Jeddah-based Volvo Trucks assembly plant, Arabian Vehicles Industries (AVI)...   Al Ayuni is going for trucks equipped with the automated I-shift transmission, to replace aging units of various brands...


* UK - JC Balls takes second MAN for heavy haulage

Belper,Derbyshire,UK -Transport Engineer, by Brian Tinham -16 Nov 2010: -- Heavy haulage firm JC Balls & Sons, has added a new MAN TGX 26.540BLS 540bhp 6x4 tractor unit to its fleet, citing MAN's attention to detail as key to the choice... The truck, plated at 80 tonnes for CAT2 operations, joins a TGS 26.400 6x2 rigid, with Hiab crane, bought in 2009...  The new tractor has been dedicated for use with JC Balls' low-loader, which has a 40 tonne excavator on-board, and Balls says the chassis specification has proved to be "absolutely spot on"...
