* USA / India - Distributor Sues Mahindra Over Truck Delays
Atlanta,GA,USA -Transport Topics -21 June 2010: -- Global Vehicles USA, the U.S. distributor for the Scorpio, a new diesel-powered pickup truck from Indian manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., has sued the company over delays in bringing the truck to market... The suit asks the Atlanta District Court to prevent Mahindra from using any other U.S. distributor, Bloomberg news reported... GV charged that Mahindra has rejected purchase orders and has breached a 2006 agreement... The truck was originally scheduled to be introduced to the U.S. market in early 2009, but several delays have pushed that out to at least December 2010, according to the company... St. Petersburg, Russia -The Economic Times (India) -19 Jun 2010: -- Germany's Daimler is expecting modest growth in the European truck market in 2010, but larger rebounds in harder-hit areas such as the United States, the head of its trucks unit said on Saturday... "The market for trucks in Europe will be slightly up, the US 10-15 per cent and Japan could be 10-15 per cent," Andreas Rentschler told Reuters Insider on the sidelines of the St Petersburg economic forum...
* USA - Growth in fuel cell vehicles predicted
New York,NY,USA -HGV Ireland -June 22, 2010: -- The use of fuel cells in passenger and commercial vehicles is expected to accelerate over the next 10 years, according to industry analysts... A report from Pike Research in the United States claims that upwards on 650,000 cars and trucks could be sold annually by 2020... The market research and consulting firm, says the growth of the fuel cell vehicle market “balances on two key elements: the growth of hydrogen gas refueling stations and improvements in the cells themselves” ...
* China - Shaanxi Auto, CNOOC tie up for LNG heavy-duty trucks

-Gasgoo/Global Times -June 28 2019: -- Shaanxi Auto, a minor automaker in China, is teaming up with the CNOOC Gas and Power Group on a liquefied natural gas (LNG) heavy-duty truck business, the 21st Century Business Herald reported last week... Under their cooperation deal, Shaanxi Auto will be developing LNG heavy-duty trucks for long-distance transportation providers, while CNOOC Gas and Power is expected to build LNG stations along the running routes to ensure LNG supply for the trucks... Natural gas vehicles are predicted to account for 30 percent of the total vehicles in China by 2020. The biggest challenges for natural gas vehicle development are gas supply and future price changes, as under government control natural gas may lose its price advantage over petroleum, said an industry executive...
* Namibia - Scania Truck Namibia launches new R-series
Windhoek,Namibia -The Namibia Economist -25 June 2010: -- Scania’s new R-series range of trucks which scooped the award of International Truck of the Year 2010 was launched in Windhoek recently by Scania Truck Namibia. The International Truck of the Year award is presented every year to the truck launched in the previous 12 months that is felt to have made the greater contribution to road transport efficiency... The new ranges includes a more aerodynamic cab profile that not only reduces fuel consumption but also improves the flow of air through the engine compartment, thereby aiding engine cooling. Scania’s revised Opticruise automated gear-shifting system, launched on the new R series was also rated highly for its faster, smoother and more intelligent shift strategy... The judges described, the truck’s Driver Support System as an innovative learning tool capable of providing a continuous and pro-active assessment of a driver out on the road, rating their fuel consumption, driving efficiency and overall “road craft” with a simple yet effective “star” rating system which encourages a driver to excel...
