REGULATIONS * USA - FMCSA pre-employment screening program goes live

The database designed to help motor carriers screen prospective hires officially went online Tuesday, May 11

Washington,DC,USA -Land Line Magazine, by Jami Jones -May 11, 2010: ... The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration announced that motor carriers and drivers alike now have access to the driver records available through the agency’s Pre-Employment Screening Program – dubbed PSP... The database includes driver information collected from crash records for the previous five years and roadside inspection data from the previous three years – regardless of the state the crash or inspection occurred in. It does not include a driver’s record from a state department of motor vehicles... Once motor carriers have enrolled in the program, they can access driver records online here... Drivers have online access to their records available to motor carriers through the PSP, for the $10 fee per record. There is no annual fee for drivers checking their own records. Individuals can also obtain a free copy by filing a Freedom of Information request with the FMCSA; however, it will take much longer to receive the records... If the records include an error, drivers must work through FMCSA to clear up the problem. The website for data correction is https://dataqs.fmcsa.dot.gov/login.asp
