* USA - Penske orders 600 Volvo VN670 tractors
Reading,PA,USA -Fleet Owner -May 6, 2010: -- Penske Truck Leasing has placed an order for 600 new Volvo VN670 tractors with EPA 2010-certified Volvo D13 engines... The engines use selective catalytic reduction (SCR) to meet the 2010 emissions regulations, and improve fuel economy by up to 5% over previous engines... One hundred of the trucks have been built and placed into Penske’s fleet with the remaining 500 to be delivered over the next several months, Volvo said... (Photo from roadtransport: Volvo VN-670)
* USA - Navistar adds waste-collection features
Warrenville,ILL,USA -Fleet Owner -May 5, 2010: -- A number of features have been added to Navistar’s vocational trucks to improve the driver experience in the waste collection field. The vehicles were shown at Waste Expo 2010 being held in Atlanta this week... Driver productivity is improved with a stair-step entry/exit system for International’s DuraStar and WorkStar trucks... The DuraStar includes a sloped hood, making SRD conversions work especially well, Navistar said, with plenty of forward and side-to-side visibility... The WorkStar offers a cooling system mounted above the frame rail. The system protects the radiator in off-highway environments, but also allows for front-end power take-off (FEPTO) mounting without the need to put a hole in the radiator... * France - Peugeot, Changan Agree on Chinese Production Venture
Paris,France -Bloomberg -May 6, 2010: -- PSA Peugeot Citroen, Europe’s second- largest carmaker, agreed to set up a venture with China Changan Automotive Group Co. to tap rising demand for vehicles in the world’s biggest auto market... The 50-50 venture to manufacture cars and light commercial vehicles won’t compete directly with other partnerships, the companies said in a statement today. Peugeot already assembles cars with Dongfeng Motor Group Co., while Changan shares plants with Ford Motor Co...
