SURVEY * UK - Joe Public does know the value of haulage

London,UK -The Road Transport, by Justin Stanton -16 April 2010: -- The general public do realise the value of the transport industry, new research has revealed, with 84% considering it to be important in their everyday lives... When asked by the FTA what the most important benefits of transport are, 84% identified the transport of medical supplies and hospital equipment as highly important, while the transport of food and drink was next (80%)... The research was carried out to help inform the direction of the FTA's Love Logistics campaign, which aims to improve the industry's image with MPs and public alike... The study also reveals that the public believe congestion is caused by trucks and vans, but crucially they are receptive to night-time deliveries... Some respondents suggested using more night-time deliveries in town centres to ease congestion during the rush hour. Indeed, when asked, 75% agreed that it is important to increase night-time deliveries despite a degree of increased noise...
