OPINION * Canada - Another positive indicator for the trucking industry.
Toronto,ONT,CAN -Truck News, by James Menzies -23 March 2010: -- Two weeks ago, I wrote of a number of the so-called 'green shoots' that are emerging, key indicators that the economy and the trucking industry specifically are on the mend... Here's another one to add to the mix: TransCore has drawn data from its Loadlink freight- and equipment-matching service to determine that conditions are indeed looking up for the Canadian trucking industry... The daily average of posted loads was up 56% year-over-year in February. Truck postings dropped 10% over the same time, suggesting excess capacity is being trimmed or carriers are securing contracts with shippers. Cross-border load postings increased 63% year-over-year and the Canadian findings reflect similar positive trends TransCore has calculated south of the border. Slowly but surely, it appears the industry is on the road to recovery... (Photo from acdisplays.com: Transcore Rhode Island Toll Booth, Transportation)
