The Swedish manufacturer, viewed as a bellwether for the industrial sector, recorded its first month of year-on-year growth in February since before the 2008 financial crisis, with an 11 per cent increase in truck sales... Mumbai,India -Exim -24 Mar 2010: -- Overseas truck producers are sensing a major market in India, particularly companies like Paccar, Scania and Iveco... The domestic truck segment is growing at 28 per cent to 2.1 lakh units and is expected to touch 5 lakh units by 2015 after having pulled out of the 2009 depression... Truckmakers, such as Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland and Mahindra & Mahindra are looking optimistically at better sales this year, triggered mainly by accelerated industrial activity and improved consumer financing... * India - Tata Motors to Help Set Up Myanmar Heavy-Truck Plant
Mumbai,India -Bloomberg, by Vipin V. Nair -March 22, 2010: -- Tata Motors Ltd., India’s biggest commercial-vehicle maker, will help set up a factory in Myanmar to build heavy trucks in a project funded by the Indian government... The plant, due to begin production in about a year’s time, will have an annual capacity of 1,000 vehicles. Myanmar Automobile & Diesel Industries Ltd. will operate the factory, it said... Tata Motors isn’t making any investment in the plant, Debasis Ray, a company spokesman, said by phone. The factory will build Tata-branded trucks, he said... * China - Sinotruk’s First-Quarter Sales Rise
Hong Kong,China -Bloomberg/Transport Topics -25 March 2010: -- Sinotruk (Hong Kong) Ltd., China’s biggest heavy-truck maker, said its sales rose “significantly” this quarter after higher government spending on infrastructure spurred demand... China’s 4 trillion yuan, or $586 billion, government stimulus package bolstered demand for commercial vehicles, which helped Sinotruk’s net income to rise 10% to 965 million yuan, or about $141 million, last year... The full-year outlook for 2010 may be affected by changes in government policy and potential higher inflation...
