* Kenworth introduces new T700, other offerings

The new Kenworth T700, is a high-roof aerodynamic long-haul tractor that offers 8 ft. in interior sleeper height – making it ideal for team operations, said Bill Kozek, Kenworth’s GM... The T700’s aerodynamic bumper and chassis fairings are made of a Thermal Plastic Olefin (TPO) material that helps minimize fading while improving impact resistance. The T700 comes with 60-plus cubic feet of storage space and nearly 25% more interior volume with nearly 30 in. between the driver and passenger seats for convenient sleeper access...
* Peterbilt rolls out new trucks, component options
Louisville,KY,USA -Fleet Owner, by Sean Kilcarr -Mar 24, 2010: -- Peterbilt Motors Co. unveiled a spate of new truck models and component options here at the Mid-America Trucking Show – including a brand-new, single rear axle Class 8 tractor aimed at regional, short-haul, and pickup and delivery fleets... The new Model 382 is a 111-in. BBC day-cab designed to offer improved maneuverability for urban operation. It includes Peterbilt’s proprietary Aerodynamic Package to boost fuel efficiency for the short-haul end of the Class 8 market. The truck comes standard with a smaller-block Cummins ISL9 engine and one-piece windshield for greater visibility. Peterbilt said it will begin building the Model 382 in June... * Navistar Defense to Retrofit 1,222 MRAPs
Warrenville,ILL,USA -Transport Topics -22 Mar 2010: -- Navistar Corp. announced that its military division has received a $178 million contract to retrofit and up-grade 1,222 International MaxxPro Dash blast-protected vehicles that it built for the U.S. Marine Corps... Navistar Defense, a subsidiary of Navistar, which manufactures International trucks, said the contract calls for upgrading the heavily armored vehicles in Iraq and Afghanistan... * USA - Daimler Fined $185 Million For Bribery Charges in U.S
Washington,DC,USA -Nitrobahn, by joydeep -March 24, 2010: -- The German car and truck maker, Daimler AG, was fined $185 million on Tuesday for bribery charges in the U.S. The fine was imposed by the U.S. Justice Department as well as the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for paying bribes to foreign officials with millions of dollars and luxury car gifts to win business deals. This is in direct violation of the U.S. bribery laws... A source familiar with the case said that Daimler plans to pay the fine amount in order to settle the charges against itself. However, its German and Russian units are planning to plead guilty of the charges. According to a criminal information filed in the U.S. court, prosecutors have charged the Mercedes maker with bribery attempts to nab deals in Russia, China, Turkey, Egypt, Nigeria, Iraq and at least 16 other countries between 1998 and early 2008... As a direct consequence of this, Daimler has been charged with conspiracy and falsifying records under the Foreign and Corrupt Practices Act. The SEC probe began in 2004 when an auditor complained he was fired for protesting secret bank accounts used to pay foreign officials...
