REGULATIONS * Australia - Trucks could be restricted to left lanes
Trucks could be banned from right-hand lanes on Melbourne's busy freeways
Melbourne,Australia -The Age, by JASON DOWLING -September 16, 2009: -- Victorian Roads Minister, Tim Pallas, said he was considering whether to ban trucks from specific lanes on roads such as the Monash Freeway... Two trucks and a ute collided on the Monash Freeway yesterday morning, causing traffic to back up 15 kilometres... Details on the cause of the accident are still not known... Mr Pallas said he had not yet come to a conclusion on whether excluding trucks from certain lanes would work to other motorists' advantage, ''because, if you provide dedicated lanes excluding trucks, you concentrate them in the remaining lanes, but I think it is an issue that deserves further consideration''... The chairman of the Victorian Freight and Logistics Council, John Begley, said he was concerned about the idea of limiting trucks to left-hand lanes...
