* Australia - Linfox secures $2 billion contract with National Foods

Essendon Fields,VIC,Australia -The Road Freight News -6 August 2009: -- LINFOX has today secured its biggest single contract with a $2 billion contract with National Foods... Linfox has announced will handle the bulk of National Foods distribution over the next decade... Other Linfox customers include Lion Nathan, Foster’s, Fonterra, Woolworths and Tesco in Asia... Linfox generates $1.3 billion of its $2 billion in revenue each year from the sector... The new contract will add 300 employees to Linfox’s estimated 16,000 workforce...


* Germany - Kögel files for insolvency

Bavaria,Germany -Road Transport (UK) -4 August 2009: -- German trailer giant Kögel has filed for insolvency, citing "drastic market distortions in the logistics industry"... The Bavarian manufacturer, which posted a turnover of €440m (£373.9m), said that like the entire industry, it has had to fight since the onset of the credit crunch in September of last year, which eventually turned into recession, but had seen a "demand breakdown" of 90%... Filing for insolvency will affect approximately 1,150 workers, including 830 based in Germany. Its sister company in France, Jean Chereau SAS, is not affected... In March, when Kögel unveiled its most recent set of financial results, it said it had experienced a sharp fall in incoming orders, even though it believed it was not to the same extent as other manufacturers...
