FINES * USA - Trucker gets ticket for 7,000-gallon gasoline spill in Morris Township

Morris Township,NJ,USA -The NJ.com, by George! -August 06, 2009: -- Morris Township police have issued a careless driving summons to the driver of a tanker that flipped yesterday afternoon at Whippany Road and Lindsley Drive, spilling an estimated 7,000 gallons of gasoline that fouled the Whippany River, snarled traffic and prompted evacuations from the Westin Governor Morris hotel and the Lindsley Arms Apartments... Eric T. Majette, 38, of Ewing was driving a Mack truck operated by Lee Transport Systems LLC of Elmer, NJ. He was treated for minor injuries at Morristown Memorial Hospital and released, according to a statement issued this morning by Morris County Prosecutor, Robert Bianchi... * CARB fines trucking company $22,000 for emissions violations

Sacramento,CAL,USA -Land Line Magazine, by Charlie Morasch -August 5, 2009: -- The California Air Resources Board recently fined one California fleet more than $22,000 for failing to perform emission checks on its trucks... CARB fined Dispatch Transportation Inc. $22,875 after the agency’s investigators found the company hadn’t inspected its trucks in 2007 or 2008... In addition to paying the fine, Dispatch Transportation also must:

* Ensure staff responsible for emissions compliance attend diesel education courses within one year;
* Instruct drivers to comply with the state’s idling regulations;
* Complete heavy-duty diesel engine software and control technology upgrades; and
* Supply all smoke inspection records to CARB for the next four years.
