TRUCKERS' STORY * USA - Changing gears for trucking careers

In this challenging economy a lot of people are hitting the roads looking for work, but for one group, the roads are the work

Malden,MO,USA -KFVS, by CJ Cassidy -Aug 05, 2009: -- Many folks say it's the easiest way to avoid getting stuck in a rut, and as it turns out some job seekers seem to have found at least one career path that won't deadend anytime soon... "You have to go where the money is," Marsha Creasy said. For her, that means going to truck driving school and getting ready to hit the highway... Creasy's been looking for a job since she was laid off last year, and says she finally found an industry that doesn't look like it will come to a screeching halt anytime soon... Marsha Creasy says she knows she's in for long hours and days away from home, but knowing she'll have some steady income gives her the motivation to get behind the wheel, and stay there... * First trucker arrives in Waupun

Waupun,WIS,USA -WISC News/The Daily Citizen, by HANK SNYDER -7 Aug 2009: -- The first trucker to arrive for this year's 20th annual Truck-N-Show was Tod Job who wheeled his 1996 Peterbuilt into Waupun Tuesday... "I come just for the fun of it," said Job who own's T. L. Job Trucking of Jefferson City, Mo. "This is my 13th or 14th year here"... This is the first time Job has been first for the show. As to how he'll be filling his time until Friday when the jamboree starts he said he will clean his truck and goof off... Job has been in the trucking business 25 years and was a design engineer before that... But the trucking business has become frustrating for Job... "The industry is completely different every year," he said. "And every year you have to decide where you go, and how you're packing the freight, and make decisions on purchasing equipment. You have to evaluate everything all the time"... (Photo from Citizen Staff, by Hank Snyder - Tod Job of T.L. Job Trucking, Jefferson City, Mo., stands alongside his truck in Waupun on Tuesday.
