* Protecting passenger's sleep - Restraint device for a bed in a vehicle
Fort Wayne,IN,USA -The Journal Gazette, by Greg Cooper -July 13, 2009: -- Patently Speaking highlights the technological achievements of a device for a bed in a motor vehicle... We know the importance of wearing a seat belt while driving or as a passenger in the car, but what about while sleeping in the truck? If one person is driving while another is sleeping, they both need protection... Restraints used in the past only extended from the back wall of the sleeping compartment to the front edge of only one side of the bed’s frame. The problem with this is that any impact or sudden stop causes the occupant to apply a force directly on only this one side of the bed frame... This patent describes a new belt system that distributes the weight and any impact force over all sides of the bed frame rather than over just one side. In this case, a series of straps extend all around the bed frame, essentially tying all sides of the frame together. This produces a more even distribution of any forces, better protecting both the occupant and the bed frame...
