* Japan - Daimler’s Fuso Truck Unit to Cut 15% of Workforce
Kawasaki,Japan -Bloomberg, by Naoko Fujimura & Tetsuya Komatsu -May 13, 2009: -- Mitsubishi Fuso Truck & Bus Corp., Daimler AG’s Japanese commercial-vehicle unit, will eliminate 15 percent of its workforce and shut two factories in Asia as the global recession causes sales to drop... The division will cut about 2,300 workers globally by the end of 2010, offering buyout packages or not replacing people who retire or quit, Fuso President Harald Boelstler said today at a press conference in Kawasaki, where the unit has its headquarters. Fuso will end production at a Thai plant this year and shut a small-bus factory in Oye, Japan, in 2010...
