* USA - Navistar to make trucks for Caterpillar

Peoria,ILL,USA -AP/Chicago Business -April 06, 2009: -- Heavy equipment maker Caterpillar Inc. and Navistar International Corp., which produces diesel engines and trucks, said Monday they have signed a deal to produce Caterpillar heavy-duty trucks for sale in North America... Peoria, Ill.-based Caterpillar and Warrenville, Ill.-based Navistar also agreed to form a 50-50 joint venture to develop, manufacture and distribute commercial trucks in regions outside of North America and India... The first products under the joint venture, which will be sold under both the Caterpillar and International brands, are expected to be available as early as the third quarter of 2009... Under the North American alliance, the new Caterpillar trucks will be codeveloped by Caterpillar and Navistar and made in Navistar's Garland, Texas facility. The trucks, which will be sold and serviced exclusively by North American Caterpillar Dealers, will be unveiled in late 2010 and go into full production in early 2011...


* Australia - Cat-powered Internationals to hit Aussie market

Sydney,AUST. -ATN -8 April 2009: -- Caterpillar will re-emerge in the Australian market tied with truck brand International, with new trucks expected to hit showrooms before end of the year... The company has announced it will form a new joint-venture with truck and engine supplier Navistar, parent of the International brand, to pursue “commercial truck opportunities” around the world with a particular focus on the Australian market...


* Russia - Auto Bailout, Russian Style

Moscow,Russia -Edmunds,com (UK) -6 April 2009: -- The global auto bailout trend continues eastward, with a government-led restructuring just announced in Russia. Prime Minister Vladimir Putin signed two decrees on Friday to restructure government loans to Russia's largest automaker, AvtoVAZ, and cargo-truckmaker ZIL. It's part of an effort to salvage the struggling auto industry, which, as in most other parts of the world, has been badly battered by the economic downturn... Other ailing automakers would receive more than $400 million in state guarantees on loans, according to the government bailout plan... This includes $140 million to KamAZ, Russia's largest truckmaker...
