Fast passage allowed for Mexican trucks -- if they can get through U.S.
Ottawa,ONT,CAN -The Journal of Commerce, by Courtney Tower -Apr 16, 2009: -- Canada Customs’ elite Customs Self Assessment program admitted Mexican goods, which now join goods from the United States in winning faster clearance into Canada at entry ports for those in the program. Whether Mexican goods arrive in Canada on Mexican trucks, however, will depend on the longtime U.S. ban on Mexican truck traffic being lifted... A Customs Notice of April 15 from Canada Border Services Agency says that CSA, for several years open only to imports, carriers and drivers bringing in goods from the United States by land, is amended effective immediately to include Mexico, Canada’s other NAFTA partner.... CSA is a program with a long and rigorous application/acceptance procedure that requires a company’s business practices to be open, transparent, and compatible with CBSA’s requirements for tracking, recording and documenting all supply chain steps from foreign factory to Canadian destination...
