Washington,DC,USA -Transport Topics -17 April 2009: -- The Environmental Protection Agency said Friday that greenhouse gases could pose a danger to the public health, paving the way for new regulation of vehicles, power plants and factories, Bloomberg reported... The proposed finding marks the first formal action by the federal government toward restricting carbon dioxide emissions that scientists say contribute to global warming... Draft legislation is set to be next week by a subcommittee of the House Energy and Commerce Committee would “supersede” EPA regulation, said Henry Waxman, chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee... The measure would require industrial polluters to get permits for emissions, which then could be bought and sold on a market...
