Trucker Appreciation Week * USA - Volunteers Show Appreciation for Truckers

Volunteers recently showed appreciation for truck drivers by passing out snacks, soft drinks and gift bags to truckers who stopped at the state port of entry south of the city

St. George,UT,USA -The Main Street Business Journal (Washington,UT) -3 Sept 2008: -- The effort was mounted by members of the Dixie Sunshiners committee of the St. George Area Chamber of Commerce and the Southern Utah Trucking Association to celebrate national Trucker Appreciation Week... Some of the appreciative truckers said theirs is typically a thankless job. They spend long days on the road away from family and rarely receive any thanks. Truck drivers usually get attention only when they do something wrong, they said. Southwest Utah is important to the trucking industry, and vice versa. The area is one day's drive or less to most of the major cities in the western U.S., from Denver all the way to the California coast. More than 6 million trucks go through the nine Utah ports of entry. About 80 percent of the trucks on Utah's roads are owned by Utah trucking companies.
