Tow Truck Parade * USA - NY attempt at record for largest one
Nearly 300 tow trucks rumbled through Queens and Brooklyn on Saturday in an attempt to set an unusual one for Guinness Book of World Records
New York,NY,USA -Newsday -September 20, 2008: -- ... The procession was part of the towing industry's bid to create the largest world's largest tow truck parade. Organizers think they hit the mark, with 292 vehicles participating, including flatbeds, wreckers and 50-ton rotators. The trucks left Shea Stadium in the morning and cruised the Van Wyck Expressway and Belt Parkway before finishing at Floyd Bennett Field, where they parked on an abandoned airport tarmac to spell out the words "New York"... Guinness Book of World Records representatives were on hand. The previous world record was set on Aug. 20, 2004, at Wenatchee, Wash., by a parade of 83 tow trucks...
