Pact will replace older rigs at L.A., Long Beach docks
Allentown,PA,USA -The Allentown Morning Call, by Tyrone Richardson -August 1, 2008: -- Mack Trucks has been tapped to help twin ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach replace thousands of polluting trucks used to haul cargo at the waterways... Mack, is one of four trucking manufacturers involved in the deal to phase out more than 16,000 trucks and replace them with new and cleaner-running rigs by 2012... The Allentown manufacturer has an initial contract to supply 100 Pinnacle low-emission trucks. It is unknown how many more it will be asked to provide.The cost to replace all 16,000 trucks is estimated at $2 billion...
