The bright orange seatbelt produced by LifeGuard Technologies will be available for order on Freightliner Cascadia, Columbia, Century Class and M2 trucks. The company claims the belt also includes comfort features such as a Komfort Latch, which reduces seatbelt irritation by relieving tension so the belt doesn't rub against the driver's shoulder, and the Sliding Komfort Latch which automates the process of relieving seatbelt tension while providing an inch of slack...

* Navistar's Fleetrite Auxiliary Power Unit To Help Fleet Truck Fuel Consumption

USA -TruckTrend , by Benson Kong -July 31 2008: -- In an ongoing effort to help alleviate fuel consumption, Navistar has released its Fleetrite Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) for Class 8 trucks and fleets... The unit powers cabin heating, air-conditioning, and the truck's electronics while the truck is idle. The APU uses the truck's battery and fuel tank to start and power its own electronic system, which is then run by a 6kW generator. A 60-Amp DC alternator charges the truck's battery, while the unit is controlled by an easy-to-use touch-screen LCD mounted inside the cabin...
