Truckers' Protest * Australia - Picks up a load of indifference
Although powered by righteous anger, the "go slow" protests rolled out by truckers around the nation since last week have flopped

So far the turn-out of drivers to crawl through city streets has been poor, while public reaction has been indifferent at best and hostile at worst... Few motorists have suffered major inconvenience despite warnings of CBD gridlock. No more than 40 trucks showed up for the Brisbane protest and it was over almost as soon as it began... Fears that retailers would be starved of fresh produce have failed to eventuate. Worse still for struggling truckies, the transport sector is divided on the merits of the protest and there are even splits within the protest camp... One of the Queensland-based protest organisers, Bob Woodyard, said he believed they have already proved successful in highlighting concerns such as rising fuel costs, poor pay and problematic regulation...
