I don’t have a dog in this fight, so I will try to be objective in my assessment of the May 14 call- in hosted by Kevin Rutherford ... Rutherford dismissed the truck shutdown as ineffective. I would disagree. More could have been accomplished with greater participation, but the actions of a few had an impact. The shutdown and the DC “parade” focused attention in some critical issues. Lawmakers were made aware and that is a large accomplishment in itself. The recent House subcommittee hearing was instructive, the TRUCC Act has grown some legs, brokers have received notice about illegal and unethical business practices, insurance issues are being defined and the trucking industry as a whole benefited...

By: Ted -May 17 2008: -- I have been over to Kevin Rutherford’s site and have also heard him on XM... He makes me think of the guys on TV that try to sell you the “how to get rich in real estate” or “how to beat the stock market” crap... I don’t understand how he can be so against this site and all they are doing for drivers everywhere... I wonder if the owner operators united offered him money how fast he would jump on the bandwagon... I get sick of these guys that claim to be the gift from GOD. Please keep up the work here at the owner operators united... I think we need you and what you are doing... Thanks and yes I will join...
