TRUCKERS' COMMENT on STRIKE * USA - Did Trucker Protest Work?

So how effective were the truckers' efforts? “It went great! Really good, it was a complete success as far as I'm concerned”

Savannah,GA,USA -WSAV/TV, by Alice Massimi -Apr 08, 2008: -- Last week thousands of truckers across the country parked their rigs in protest of high fuel prices. For four days the amount of truck traffic was visibly lower. A work stoppage that hit the Georgia Ports Authority where they did half of the regular business they usually do... They parked their trucks and took to the streets, protesting high fuel prices and a fuel surcharge that drivers say is being charged to customers but not making its way back to them... “It went great! Really good, it was a complete success as far as I'm concerned,” says Keith Liverman an area truck driver... But for speaking up, some of them paid the price. So now Anthony Fields is spending his time filling out applications, hoping something opens up. But he doesn't regret taking part in the protest... While the price of diesel was not lowered, the drivers say they accomplished their goal... This is why Anthony says the protest last week is not the last you’ll hear from this trucker or thousands of others... (Photo By: Clavin Knowles)
